seeing is believing!
QVC was the first multimedia retailer to offer a native HD service:
- In May of 2007, QVC upgraded all of its cameras to support the move to high-definition broadcasting.
- On April 30, 2008 a national HD feed was made available to video distributors across the country.
- Initially, QVC up converted its standard-defination signal to an HD simulcast utilizing a 4 x 3 screen ratio.
- Utilizing a 4 x 3 screen ratio kept our products prominent, while allowing us to use the side bars to provide additional information to the customer, such as upsells, our return policy, and product details.
- On May 5, 2009, QVC began broadcasting a native 1080i HD signal, utilizing the 16 x 9 screen ratio, while using a side panel for additional information, when needed.
